LaQuinas is a Cum Ladue, Presidential Scholar graduate from South Carolina State University (’95) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work. LaQuinas received her Masters of Social Work from University of South Carolina -Advanced Standing (’97). LaQuinas began her post MSW career as a Social Worker in Gastonia, NC. She was employed with Gaston-Lincoln Mental Health/Substance Abuse Program. Soon thereafter, she began working with Mecklenburg Department of Social Services as a Geriatric Social Worker.

LaQuinas has experience working with Department of Social Services, mental health, adoption, hospice, active duty and retired military personnel, Department of Defense, hospitals as well as the Department of Veteran Affairs. LaQuinas is also a Dementia Dialogue Specialist. LaQuinas utilizes CBT, CPT, Psycho-Education, Grief Counseling as well as Trauma Focused as a cornucopia of therapy modules. LaQuinas enjoys mental health and the geriatric population. LaQuinas often reflects on the saying “The youth can walk faster, but the elder knows the road” as her mantra and in Social Work practice.

Jena Sallenger, MSN, APRN, GNP-BC

Jena Sallenger is originally from Washington, DC and has lived in Florence SC since 1985. She has been a registered nurse for 33 years and an advance practice nurse for 17 years.

She received her associates degree in nursing from the Virginia Appalachian Tri-College Nursing Program in Abingdon VA in 1985. After graduation, she moved to Florence from the mountains of VA to get away from freezing temperatures and snow. She worked in ICU, cardiac cath lab and labor & delivery before deciding to pursue a graduate degree and become a gerontologic nurse practitioner.

After graduating from Emory University she worked in hospice, taught geriatrics in an ADN program and worked as a mental health NP in the VA where she cared for veterans with PTSD and a wide spectrum of mental illnesses. She is passionate about serving the often underserved geriatric population with mental illness.
