Syreeta Miller is originally from Spartanburg, SC but has lived in the Columbia area since 2003. She has been a registered nurse for 15 years and an advance practice nurse for one year. She joined the Premier team in April of 2017 and expresses, “It has truly been a wonderful experience”.

She received her bachelor’s of nursing degree from the University of South Carolina-Upstate and masters of nursing degree from the University of Phoenix. She later decided she wanted to become a nurse practitioner to continue professional growth as well as personal aspirations on the pursuit to serve and treat those with medical concerns to provide a better quality of life; therefore, she received the post masters certificate from Kaplan University. She is passionate about serving the senior community with identified mental health diagnoses.

Tarah Davis, MSW-LISW-CP

Tarah is a transplant to South Carolina, having moved to this area from Connecticut in 2013.  She has been a Social Worker for more than 20 years and brings a wealth of experience working in such environments as managed care, hospitals, schools, prisons and community-based settings.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Connecticut College and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Fordham University.

Tarah’s therapeutic approach is eclectic, with a strong emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy, incorporating psychoeducation and mindfulness practices into her work helping clients to manage emotional distress.  She is also a strong proponent of holistic (mind, body, spirit) care.

Her specialties include treating depression, anxiety and working with trauma survivors.  Tarah feels fortunate to be able to work with the senior population, from whom there is so much for us to learn and who are also the cornerstones of our communities.

Angela Groce, MSW, LISW-CP

Angela is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. She attended the University of South Carolina where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1982 and a Masters of Social Work in 1984. She was a Department of Defense Social Worker in the United States, Japan and Korea specializing in trauma, sexual assault and domestic violence for approximately twenty years.

In 2005, Angela returned to Columbia and was a Veterans Administration Mental Health Clinic Social Worker specializing in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) of combat veterans. From 2008 until her retirement from the federal government in 2017, she was a Department of Justice, Executive Office of United States Attorneys, Employee Assistance Program Counselor.

Angela is a Licensed Independent Social Worker – Clinical Practice (LISW-CP), a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) and a Certified Advance Social Work Case Manager (C-ASWCM). She has served on the South Carolina NASW board and is a State of South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners approved LISW-CP Supervisor.

LaToya Gaines-Plunkett, MSW, LCSW, LISW-CP

LaToya Gaines-Plunkett was born into a military family, which afforded her the opportunity to experience communities around the globe as a youth. In 2017, LaToya relocated to Columbia, South Carolina, where she currently resides. LaToya is an advocate for mental health and believes mental health needs a platform as significant as physical health.

LaToya earned her Bachelor of Psychology from Argosy University and shortly after embarked on her master’s degree, which she received from University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Throughout her career, she has worked in various mental health settings ranging from residential treatment to psychiatric emergency services. LaToya has worked in the field since 2012 and is passionate about working with those with co-occurring disorders and severe mental disorders.

Utilizing an eclectic therapeutic approach, she is well-versed and knowledgeable in the utilization of Reality Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy models, including Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Processing. LaToya strives to make a positive impact in the mental health field, and she is passionate about working with the senior community throughout the process.

Charles ‘Duke’ Holden

Charles ‘Duke’ Holden, MSW, LISW-CP

Duke has a wealth of knowledge and experience starting with serving our country in Vietnam as a MOS Artilleryman. He has been married for 35 years to Sarah Holden and from this union, there are three children and one grandchild. He is retired from the states of North Carolina and South Carolina and is also the owner of a private practice, Charles Holden LISA PA.

Duke’s experience in the field of Social work is vast. He is a South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice, and has been able to utilize his license and expertise as a youth counselor, clinical social worker at Pee Dee Mental Retardation Center in Florence, SC; a clinical social worker/Psychotherapist at Wayne County Mental Health Center Goldsboro, NC; he has also worked for DHEC in the Pee Dee and Wateree Regions. In addition, Duke has worked with the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs in various counties in central and eastern South Carolina, as well as the South Carolina Department of Corrections which makes him an asset to the Premier Team!

Duke’s professional accomplishments include being a member of the Academy of Certified Social work, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, and he is certified as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor in North Carolina.

Duke is passionate about serving the senior community as he recognizes the hardships and constant change seniors experience daily. He is empathic to the frequent losses of seniors as they age. He uses an eclectic approach combining cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and self-disclosure to join with those he serves. His hope is to aid in the journey of the patient presenting less symptomatic.
